In the late evening of February 27, Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov was gunned down in Moscow. He was killed close to the Kremlin on a bridge over Moskva river. Nemtsov was shot in the back out of a passing car. He was 55 years old. Boris Nemtsov was one of the organisers of the anti-crisis march "Spring", that was to take place on March 1 in many cities of Russia, including Moscow. Instead of the anti-crisis march, the organizers decided to hold a mourning march in the center of Moscow to honor Boris Nemtsov.
